Phyllis Pearson

Phyllis Pearson

Phyllis has represented seniors and their families in estate planning and administering estates and trusts for more than 30 years. In 2004 she expanded her practice into elder law. Elder law is often referred to as "later life estate planning" and relates to the protection and distribution of assets should you or a loved one be faced with entering a nursing home. In 2010 Phyllis became a VA Accredited Attorney and, as such, is authorized by the Department of Veterans Affairs to assist clients with the preparation, presentation and prosecution of claims for VA benefits.

Education

Phyllis graduated from Iowa State with a degree in Mathematics in 1969. She then attended Drake University, College of Law and graduated with a Juris Doctor in 1979 (Order of the Coif).

Matthew Bollman

Matthew Bollman

Matt grew up in northeast Iowa. Upon graduating from the University of Denver, College of Law in 2000, he moved to Seattle, Washington and then to Phoenix, Arizona. Matt and his family moved back to Ankeny in 2008 to return to the family environment Iowa provides.

Matt joined Phyllis Pearson in her practice January 1, 2011. In 2010, Matt became a VA Accredited Attorney. Matt’s practice focuses on estate planning, probate/trust administration and elder law. He often lectures to the public and to professional groups on topics such as The Top Ten Estate Planning Mistakes; What is Probate? How to Avoid; Medicaid – It’s Not Just for the Poor; Legal Issues Affecting Iowa Seniors; and Understanding VA pension Benefits.

Education

Matthew graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Economics in 1995. He then attended the University of Denver, College of Law and graduated with a Juris Doctor in 2000.

Paralegal

Wendy Adato

Wendy Adato

Wendy is a seasoned paralegal assisting the attorneys with document preparation in the areas of estate planning, trust and estate administration, elder law/Medicaid and VA pension planning and general corporate law.  During her paralegal career, Wendy has worked in large and small law firms and in-house legal departments in Iowa, Ohio and Washington, D.C. Prior to moving to Iowa in 2005, Wendy was a senior paralegal manager at a large, international law firm in Washington, D.C. for 16 years where she worked on corporate formation and maintenance matters, federal securities filings, mergers, acquisitions, securities offerings and other financings for Fortune Global 500 companies.

Education

Wendy graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN with a degree in Criminal Justice in 1981.


Office Manager

Sandy Hirschauer

Sandy Hirschauer

Sandy has a wealth of experience working as an office manager.  After graduating from school, she worked for five years as an administrative assistant to the President of a stock investment.  She worked as a legal secretary for 15 years for Jim Krambeck and Steve Gear in the legal department of Kirke-Van Orsdel, Inc.  Sandy left Kirke-Van Orsdel, Inc. in 1999 after it was sold to Marsh McClellan to be at home with her three sons and to be more involved in the school parent faculty club and media center.  She was a stay-at-home mother for almost 10 years.  In 2008 Sandy received the Governor of Iowa’s Volunteer of the Year Award being nominated by the elementary school for her years of service.  From 2009 to the present, Sandy rejoined the workforce and has been a temporary employee working at various companies filling a variety of roles.  She joined Pearson Bollman Law on November 7, 2011 as the office manager.

Education

Sandy graduated from the American Institute of Business in Des Moines, Iowa with an Executive Legal Secretarial and Management Associate Degree in 1979.


Paralegal

Mike Beer

Mike Beer

Mike is a paralegal assisting the attorneys with document production in the areas of Medicaid planning, estate planning, wills, and probate/trust administration. Originally from Tucson, Arizona and growing up in eastern Iowa, he relocated to the Des Moines area in 1990 and currently resides in Bondurant. He has worked for more than thirty years in the transportation industry and several years as a salesman for luxury automobiles. He joined Pearson Bollman Law in April 2012.

Mike graduated from Penn-Foster College with a Paralegal Certificate in 2011.
